Robert Cubey started his career in as a research assistant at IUCN – World Conservation Monitoring Centre, Cambridge. For here he moved to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) and undertook a number of short-term contracts. In 2006 he became the Plant Records Officer for the RBGE documenting the living collection of 64 thousand plants growing at the four sites of the RBGE, this role has grown to incorporate data-management of the 3 million sheet RBGE herbarium collection. In recent years his primary focus has been data mobilisation, this includes data management within the RBGE and externally with large scale data aggregators (GBIF , EUROPEANA, etc). His secondary focus has been participating in, and getting the best out of, a number of large European Union (EU) Infrastructure projects. (OpenUp! Synthesis, Herbadrop).
