We invite you to attend SPNHC 2022!
‘Through the door and through the web: releasing the power of natural history collections onsite and online’
The meeting of the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC), International Partner – BHL (Biodiversity Heritage Library) and National Partner – NatSCA (Natural Sciences Collections Association) will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK from the 5th – 10th June 2022
We are planning for the conference to be primarily a face to face meeting in the beautiful city of Edinburgh, Scotland. We very much hope that colleagues from around the world can participate in person. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic however, we recognise that attending physically may not be possible for everyone, so we are also planning a virtual interactive element to the symposia of the conference, as well as offering some on-demand content after the congress.
SPNHC 2022 is presented by the National Museums of Scotland and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh:

National Museums – A Centre of Global Excellence
The vision of George Wilson, the first director of what is now the National Museum of Scotland, was for “a museum of the world in relation to Scotland”. This statement, delivered two years after the museum was founded in 1854 is as true today as it was then.

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
RBGE’s extensive Herbarium numbers nearly three million specimens representing half to two thirds of the world’s flora. These specimens have been collected during a period of over 300 years, from nearly every country in the world. In addition to dried plants the Herbarium houses a spirit collection of more than 7,000 specimens.
We look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh!
